Criminal Defense Lawyer, Buffalo New York. His clients come from across the globe, as far as China, as near as Allentown, yet his approach is the same, treat people the way you want to be treated, give them your best and honest effort and always put the client’s best interest first. It’s an approach that has served the Former State and Federal Prosecutor well, particularly now when he is in private practice. James Quinn Auricchio, Esq., left the United States Attorney’s office for
private practice in 2009. Since then, he developed a practice that focuses almost exclusively in Criminal Defense and Vehicle and Traffic Law and expanded his practice into small business consulting and Tax Law.
Buffalo Native. After graduation from the University at Buffalo Law School where he participated in the prestigious Mock Trial and Moot Court programs, he was appointed as an Assistant District Attorney in Monroe County. After three years there, he returned home to Buffalo where he was appointed as an Assistant District Attorney in Erie County, where he worked his way to become chief of the Crimes Against Revenue Bureau.
He was recruited by the United States Attorney’s Office and initially joined the Office for the Western District of New York as a Special Assistant United States Attorney and ultimately served in the Criminal Division on Drug and Gun cases.
Since then he has represented individuals and businesses and earned notoriety for his work in both State and Federal Courts.

In layman’s terms, he is a criminal defense attorney or criminal lawyer, and is one of the few attorneys in Western New York that focuses almost exclusively in the area of Criminal Law, appearing United States District Court, New York State Supreme Court and County, Village and Town Courts across Western New York. Generally he handles matters west of Batavia, New York, in Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming Counties, but has been retained in matters in a number of downstate counties.
The youngest son of Michael and the late Elinor Quinn Auricchio, Mr. Auricchio lives in Orchard Park, New York with his wife and daughter. His son, Sean Auricchio, passed away in 2013. He has worked to support numerous charities, with a particular focus on organizations that aid the developmentally disabled and autistic. In his spare time, he enjoys sports, running and despite his best efforts, he continues to be an absolutely atrocious golfer.
